Formerly Junipero Serra High School, the San Diego Unified School District sought to give Canyon Hills High School a fresh new identity that incorporated more of the Tierrasanta region. After conducting an extensive community input campaign, including virtual town halls, a new name and mascot was chosen. Visual Asylum was tasked with creating branding from the ground up that included aspects of the region’s indigenous roots. The rattler mascot was created to embody the energy and playfulness of it’s student body. Patterns abstracted from the rattler and nature act as a bridge between applications. A full visual package was created including logo, mascot, stationery, athletic applications along with detailed brand guidelines.
